Sisyphus

Above: A million boulders and a million slopes make for a full lifetime.

Sisyphus

For every man, a boulder.

For every boulder, a slope.

For every slope, a hill.

For every hill, a peak.

For every peak, a downturn.

For every downturn, a trough.

For every trough, a valley.

For every valley, a leveling.

For every leveling, a straightaway.

For every straightaway, a marathon.

For every marathon, a sprint.

For every sprint, a stumble.

For every stumble, a struggle.

For every struggle, a lesson.

For every lesson, a triumph.

For every triumph, a failure.

For every failure, a phoenix.

For every phoenix, a man.

For every man, a boulder…

Whether Ozymandias or Old Book, each reads:

As it was in the beginning,

is now,

and ever shall be,

world without end.
